Christopher Keith Snyder

August 19, 1944September 10, 2020

Christopher Keith Snyder, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 10, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his father Wilson P. Snyder; mother Inga- Stina and sister, Elsa Kristina Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Molly; brother Frederick Snyder (Rebecca) of Fredricksburg, TX; sister Regina Snyder of Corpus Christi and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 3 daughters: Robin Springer (Richard) of Portland, OR; Kristin Snyder (Josh Powell) of South Lake Tahoe, CA; Courtenay Cohen (Matthew) of Bend, OR and three grandchildren: Ella Springer, Grace Springer, and Reed Cohen. He is also survived by his dog, Tucker, and cat Jasmine.

Chris was born in Columbus, GA and grew up in Corpus Christi, TX. He attended Texas A&M (Kingsville) and majored in marketing. As a teenager, he developed a love for cars that continued throughout his life. After a few years in retail, Chris followed his passion for cars and worked as a car dealer for the majority of his life. He was the founding owner of Lakeside Motors in Mobile. He enjoyed owning his own business and worked hard (though he said “if you enjoy what you do, it doesn’t feel like work”). He loved visiting car dealerships, going to car shows, talking about cars, restoring cars, and driving cars. He had an affinity for Corvettes, his dogs (Maxwell and then Tucker), and football (Roll Tide and Geaux Saints).

Chris and his family resided in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for many years and moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1985. He loved good Cajun food, boiled shrimp, oysters, and Old Dutch ice cream.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Chris will be truly missed by all that knew him. I considered him a great friend as well as a business associate.

Chris was quite a character. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. They do not make car men like him anymore. Prayers to his family. He definately will be missed.

Extending heartfelt condolences to Chris's family and friends at this time. I like to imagine a lively ancestral reunion taking place with creole, crawdads & cool cars on the other side.
As the college pal of his daughter, Kristin (go CU!), I want to add how grateful I am to Chris (and Molly) for raising three amazing, beautiful, smart, strong, authentic women. Awesome parents= awesome kids. I've always been so envious of Kristin's loving Louisi-bama care packages every holiday from her parents. One of my favorite life adventures of all time: driving to Alaska with Kristin in Trusty the Land Cruiser--a beauty restored by Chris. Thank you Chris! Rest in peace, xx Alison
