Blake's story starts September 14,1987. He graduated from Baker High School and continued on to Faulkner State Community College on a baseball scholarship where he met his future wife. He later earned his civil engineering degree at Auburn University during one of Auburn's national championship years. After 5 years of dating, Blake and Amanda got married and moved to Atlanta. Blake was an exceptional husband but an even better father to Darcy. He fought acute myeloid leukemia for 3 years and battled until the end. Blake loved all things Auburn and Atlanta Braves. If Blake had his way, his days would consist of sporting events, golf and sitting by a body of water. He always had a fighter's spirit no matter the scenario and a competitive streak a mile wide. You could count on him for a good laugh and a helping hand. His life may have been cut short, but it was full of love.
Blake was preceded in death by his mother, Jan Summers; paternal grandmother, Nita Summers; maternal grandfather, William Pollard; and aunt, Sue Horton. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Amanda Summers; daughter, Darcy Summers; father, Shannon Summers; brother, Alex Summers (Lindsey); paternal grandfather, Glenn Summers; maternal grandmother, Genevieve Pollard; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 3, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
