
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Armbrecht, Jr. and Katherine Little Armbrecht, her brother, William Henry Armbrecht, III and sister-in-law, Jean Taylor Armbrecht, brothers-in-law, William Baker Bru and James David Brown, and nephew, William Taylor Armbrecht.
She is survived by siblings Betsy Armbrecht Brown, of Birmingham, Anna Bell Armbrecht Bru, of Point Clear, and Conrad Paterson Armbrecht and wife, Eugenia LeBlanc Armbrecht, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews.
Clara's favorite childhood pastimes included swimming, and riding her horse, Indian, all over Spring Hill. She attended Julius T. Wright School For Girls and graduated from Murphy High School. She attended Centenary College in New Jersey, and graduated from the University Of Alabama, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a lifelong member of St Paul's Episcopal Church and served as a lay reader.
Clara was Juvenile Queen of Mardi Gras in 1965, was presented at the Camellia Ball in 1972, and was Queen of Mardi Gras in 1973.
After teaching for several years, Clara worked for TIAA-CREF, provider of educational benefits, where she ultimately became Vice President for the Southeastern Region, based in Atlanta. She lived in New York and Dallas before moving to Atlanta. She returned to Mobile upon retiring, and worked as a volunteer for the Historic Mobile Preservation Society, eventually serving as president.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Chapel on Wednesday, July 1st at 2PM. Visitation will begin in the Parish Hall
at 1PM.
