Vearn is survived by his daughters, Victoria Partridge Walsh (Daniel) and Winslow Partridge Brandenburg (Jonathan,) and son C.V. Partridge III (Kendra), He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Clay, Julia, and Amelia Partridge, Alexander Walsh, Daniel, Dominic, Joshua, Henry, Leo, and Lilliana Brandenburg, Victoria Rose Brandenburg LaGrone (Joel), Gabriella Louise Brandenburg Duvall (Aiden,) Maria Brandenburg (Parker McLemore-fiance), and great granddaughter Vivian LaGrone, with another great-grandbaby (Duvall) due in January. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Winslow Partridge Ollinger, many nieces, a nephew and cousins.
Vearn finished high school at McGill Institute, and spent some time at Tulane and University of Alabama before graduating from Livingston (now University of West Alabama). He was a member of the Army Reserves.
Vearn loved the Lord, his Catholic faith, and was honored to be a Knight of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. He has been a member of St. Ignatius for more than 50 years, and he worked in the insurance business, serving his clients for more than 60 years. He was a beloved father, taking his three children out on many boating, skiing, and kite-flying adventures.
Mardi Gras has always been an important part of Vearn’s life. He was honored to be named as King of Mardi Gras in 1965. He enjoyed sharing the Partridge family history and the part they played in Mobile Mardi Gras on New Year's Eve 1830 when Mobile’s first mystic organization was born compliments of Partridge Hardware, Vearn’s great Grandfather’s store. Vearn was also a member of several mystic organizations. In his free time, you could find Vearn on the golf course with his dear friends and golf group that played together for more than 25 years, on a ‘history buff’ field trip with his many grandchildren, eating at the Dew Drop, or watching and discussing Alabama football. He especially found joy in yelling ‘Roll Tide’ to his LSU Tiger fan- family members. He was a scratch golfer for decades and a formidable opponent. He could humble his son, sons-in-laws, and grandchildren with his golf game, well into his senior years. Vearn had a fantastic sense of humor and made friends with everyone he met. He had a heart of gratitude and loved learning about history and life. His biggest loves were for his family and his faith, and Our Lord Jesus, through Our Lady blessed him with the grace of a ‘happy death’ like St. Joseph.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama on Thursday, June 20th at 11:30 am. A rosary will be said at 10:15 in the church. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the St. Ignatius Building Fund.
