Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Verzone Hathcock and Dan Hamilton Hathcock Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Hathcock; his daughter, Shasta (Chris) Mareno; his grandson, Tyler Eubanks; his sons at heart, Ronnie Eubanks Jr. and Miguel Gonzalez, whom he loved as his own; his brother, Bubba (Vicky) Hathcock; his sister, Sandra Hathcock; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Dan spent most of his life working as a shrimper along the Gulf Coast, a career he took immense pride in. Of all the boats he captained throughout the years, none was more special to him than the Miss Loraine, which held a treasured place in his heart. He was a devoted fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and enjoyed deer hunting, spending time with family and friends, and making trips to the casino.
Those who knew Dan will remember his hardworking spirit, his love for the water, his unwavering dedication to his family, and the countless memories he created throughout his life. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply sitting on the porch with a cigar in hand, Dan had a way of making people feel welcome and loved.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Springhill Hospice for the compassionate care they provided. A special thank you is extended to his nurses, Theresa, Erica, and Keri, whose kindness, comfort, and unwavering support brought peace not only to Dan, but to his entire family during his final days.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street. Memorial visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held immediately following the chapel service.
Dan will be deeply missed, forever loved, and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
