Daniel Aubrey McMillan, Sr. finished his earthly journey and was called to his heavenly home on the morning of March 1st, 2025. He was born on January 12th, 1952, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Burns Aubrey (Bud) McMillan and Naomi Collins McMillan. Danny is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Neil Jonathan and Donie Mae Reed McMillan, maternal grandparents Eli Claude and Regenia Pierce Collins, and brother-in-law Carrol Floyd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Kathy Jones McMillan, sister Regina (Jeannie) Floyd, children Danielle McMillan (Bart) Booth and Daniel Aubrey (Marion) McMillan, Jr., grandchildren Devin Aubrey Booth and Daniel Bartley (Alaina) Booth, aunt Jane McMillan Newberry, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of lifelong friends. Danny began working for The Southern Company at Barry Steam Plant shoveling coal at the age of nineteen. Thirty-six years later in 2007, he retired from The Southern Company with the title of Operations Manager. At the time of his retirement, he was the only Southern Company employee to hold this position without the benefit of a college degree. Upon retiring, Danny was free to pursue his passions for farming and raising cattle. Although this venture was based in his passion, Danny found success in his hobby.
Throughout his life Danny always loved being outdoors. Whether he was holding a fishing pole, hunting dove or quail, gripping the handlebars of his motorcycle, or holding onto the reigns of a horse, he was at home enjoying nature. At the age of 12, Danny accepted Christ as his lord and savior while attending New Hope Baptist Church. At his passing, he was a dedicated member of Woodridge Baptist Church. He found solace in God’s word and loved to hear God glorified through beautiful music. Danny had a presence that was hard to ignore. His passion for life was seldom matched and remained evident through to the end. He was known for his wisdom, his wit, and his kindness. He was slow to offer advice and rarely spoke prematurely. Danny has built a lasting legacy and will be missed by his family and friends.
