DeLauris Elizabeth Anderson Hopper, age 93, of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. DeLauris was born on May 2, 1929 in Theodore Alabama. The 2nd of 6 children born to James Henry and Mary Cordelia Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Bark (David Dow)) and her son Charles Hopper, her sister Francis Wright and her brother Billy (Sonny) Anderson, her grandchildren S.B. Hipp (Hannah), David Bark III (Amy), Amy Bark, and four great grandchildren.
She retired as an Administrative Assistant in the Mobile County Public School System where she received the Heart of Gold Award while employed there. She was also actively involved as a teacher is the ESL program at First Baptist Church of Tillmans Corner for many years.
She was a lifetime member of Hollingers Island Baptist Church where she served numerous positions including Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Nursery volunteer, and served on numerous committees, Her life of faith was expressed in her commitment to her church and her guidance to her family and friends as well as all that she came in contact with.
She enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, hiking, playing table games, and traveling with family and friends. She was also actively involved it the South Alabama Senior Center at Brookley School attending several days a week where she reigned supreme as the domino queen.
She has been a shining light to her family and friends, leaving a wonderful legacy of Faith to all souls she encountered.
A visitation for DeLauris will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36606, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hollingers Island Baptist Church Memorial Youth Fund, or Samaritan's Purse.
