Donald Means Pipkins “Buddy”, 81, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2024 in Mobile, Alabama surrounded by his family. Buddy or “Don” was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Means and Serena Scott Pipkins. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Cannon Pipkins; siblings, Janice Pipkins Jeske (Robert), Willis Houston Pipkins (Becky), Deborah Pipkins Harkins (Frank), and Richard Lee Pipkins; children, Holly Pipkins Resmondo (Ronnie) of Perdido Beach, AL, Christopher Tom Frost (Heather) of Nashville, TN, Frederick Ryan Frost (Anna) of Mobile, AL; and six grandchildren.
He graduated from Theodore High School in 1961, where he was very active in sports – including football, as well as track and field. He also sang in a quartet in high school, and served in the Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman – he loved to hunt, garden, pick-up soft shell crabs, raise oysters, and share his talents with everyone.
Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
