August 20, 1925 to May 31, 2020
Doris Biggs Megginson was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. She was the daughter of Elbert and Willie Biggs, and is survived by her brother John Biggs of Arab, Alabama. She was a Southern woman of charm and dignity, and her greatest happiness came from bringing joy to others. She was a faithful and loving wife to her husband of 63 years, Ted Megginson, who passed away in 2009. Although she had no children of her own, she inspired her many cousins, Megginson and Biggs nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends with her grace.
Doris loved to travel, treasured her memories, and could tell funny stories about her escapades in London and other places she visited. She was a voracious reader, finding adventures there as well.
Her faith was the guiding light of her life, and these are her own words to describe how she wanted people to remember her:
“I hope people remember me as ‘She loved.’ I love God who gave His son for me. I love Jesus who took my sins to the cross; He died for me. I love my family; I’m blessed beyond reason by their love. I love my friends; I’m blessed many times over by their love. I love people, all faiths, all ethnic groups, everybody, because our Lord loved me. Joy is life in Him. Love bears its burdens with dignity, continues to believe, never loses hope, and endures to the end. And so, my friends, because our Heavenly Father loved us so much, He sent His son, who loved us so much He died for us. We can do no less than love His world.”
A private graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to MURRAY HOUSE Assisted Living, 1257 Government Street, Mobile, AL, 36604
