Dorothy Parker Brown, affectionately known as "Dot," was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, partner, and friend. She was born on April 19, 1937, and peacefully returned to the Lord on September 28, 2026. Those fortunate enough to know Dot were blessed by her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love. The memories she created with family and friends will be cherished forever and carried in the hearts of all who loved her. Dot touched the lives of so many with her caring nature and genuine concern for others.
Dot is now eternally at peace and reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Howard Brown, and many cherished family and friends who went before her. While her absence will be deeply felt, we find comfort in our faith and in the promise that we will one day be together again.
Dot leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted partner of ten wonderful years, Donald "Don" Rourke; her daughters, Carmen "Candy" Brown, Suzanne "Suzie" Bryars (Brent), and Kimberly Cook (John Cooper); her granddaughters, Jody Harless and Mary Kristian Perkins (Judson); great-granddaughter, Wren Perkins; and many other loving family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of SpringHill Memorial Hospital and Alabama Medical Group, where Dot spent many years of her career. Their kindness, dedication, and efforts during her final days brought comfort to both Dot and her loved ones. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Dot's memory.
The family encourages everyone to honor Dot's legacy by cherishing the memories she created, sharing kindness with others, and living each day in a way that would make her proud. Though she is no longer with us in person, her love, wisdom, and spirit will continue to guide and inspire those whose lives she touched.
