Earl Melvin Schjott

Earl Melvin Schjott, age 91, native of Bayou La Batre and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jeane J. Schjott, parents, Ervind and Marian Martindale Schjott and four brothers.

Mr. Schjott served his country honorably in the United States Navy and was self-employed in the maintenance business for many years.

Earl is survived by his children; Deanne Watkins of Mobile, Jerry (Elizabeth) Schjott of Mobile, David Schjott of Ft. Walton, FL and Michelle (Carlos) Lindner of Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and numerous other family members and friends. Poppa loved his family and will be greatly missed by all. Special thank you to Saads Hospice staff for the special care given to Earl.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 16, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Springhill Avenue Temple Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
