Edward F. "Puck" Puckhaber Jr.

Edward F. “Puck” Puckhaber, Jr. – a native of Charleston, SC and a resident of Mobile, AL since 1944, born October 11, 1920, departed this life on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in Daphne, AL. He was a 1938 graduate of Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC. Mr. Puckhaber was a World War II veteran and served as a Chief Petty Officer. He served aboard the USS Laub, USS Eagle, USS Albemarle, and Naval Station, Chickasaw, AL where he met his wife. Mr. Puckhaber was employed by Gulf and Alabama Shipyards, Brookley Field Air Force Base, Teledyne Continental Motors, and Naval Aircraft Rework Facility, Pensacola, FL, where he retired with 38 years of military and civil service in 1984. Mr. Puckhaber was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Inez Laura Dykes; parents, Edward, Sr. and Isabelle Morrisey Puckhaber; sister, Camilla Jameson; and brother, Bernard Puckhaber. He is survived by nieces and nephews including an especially close nephew who was a friend, advisor, caretaker, and executor, Billy Dykes; close nephew and friend, Waite Dykes (Jennifer); his friend, Dr. Henrietta Kovacs; advisor and friend, Chester Feagin; buddy, Rack Rackley; and last but not least, his friend, Ngai Mingo. A memorial service will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Fail officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your charity of choice.
