May 14, 1923 – January 14, 2022
Elizabeth “Dibber” Bodden Lutz was a native Mobilian and a lifelong, loyal member of her beloved church, Government Street Presbyterian. She was a faithful and active member who especially loved her time delivering Meals on Wheels into her eighties.
Dibber enjoyed life to the fullest; frequently traveling all over the world with her husband and spending time down the bay with family. She spent over 60 years attending her Wednesday “Bridge Club”, although they quickly quit playing cards to focus on their fun conversations. Dibber could also be found playing weekly games of bridge and tennis with her dearest friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and did her best to never miss their school activities and sporting events.
Dibber is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years John Thomas Lutz, her parents Estella Keeney Bodden and Robert Knowles Bodden, and her sister Ellen Keeney Bodden. She is survived by her three daughters Betsy (Dick) Otts, Ellen (Harry) Hardin, and Stella (Charlie) Jackson. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren Richard (Lindsay) Otts, John (Julie) Otts, Robert (Sarah) Otts, Elizabeth (Zach) Weaver, Edward Otts, Simms (Zan) Hardin, Liz (Brett) Goodwin, Allison Hardin, Charles (Lauren) Jackson, Forrest (Jessica) Jackson, John Jackson, and Ellen Jackson. Dibber was loved and affectionately known as “Goose” to her grandchildren, their friends and her seventeen great-grandchildren. Her family is very appreciative of the years of support provided by her devoted caregivers Rosetta, Diann, Janice, Louise, Shelia, Tyeshia, Sally, Dorothy and Savannah.
There will be a Service of Witness to the Resurrection at Government Street Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00am. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following down the bay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Government Street Presbyterian Church, 300 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36602.
