Elizabeth Randolph Pipes

Elizabeth Fitz-Randolph Casey “Poodle” Pipes, 82, of Mobile, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Poodle was born on August 30, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama, to John L. Casey and Jane Randolph Casey. She grew up in Mountain Brook and graduated from Ramsey High School. She went on to attend Converse College and the University of Alabama, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree and served as president of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

In 1966, she married the love of her life, Wes Pipes, and after two years on the West Coast the two made their home in Mobile. They shared 59 years of marriage, during which time she devoted her life to her family and community.

A former high school teacher in the Mobile County Public School System and a past President of the Junior League of Mobile, she gave back to her community and to her friends in many ways. Depending on when in her life you encountered her, you may have known her as an avid tennis player, golfer, swimmer, or bridge player, or as a devotee of yoga, pilates, walking, or reading. For many years she served the Church by arranging flowers at St. Paul’s. She loved her grandchildren and was always ready to teach them how to cook or take them on adventures.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one of her sisters, Serena “Mike” Vann.

Poodle is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Samuel Wesley Pipes, IV; her sons, Wesley Pipes (Amy) and Casey Pipes (Lillis); her grandchildren, Sam Pipes (Kelsey), Larkin Fontenot (Barry), Thomas Pipes, Serena Pipes, and John Pipes; several great-grandchildren; and her sister Pat Gillespy of Birmingham.

A memorial service for Poodle will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 23, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Rd, Mobile, AL 36608. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall of the Church beginning at 1:00 PM, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Wilmer Hall.
