Eloise Green Stone, 94, went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2018 in Thomasville, Alabama surrounded by her daughters, Sue and Donna, granddaughter, Liz, and son-in-law, Roger. She was born in Royce, Mississippi to Hiram Richard Green and Annie Dene Green (Windham) on September 11, 1923. She had two sisters and five brothers who all preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Herman Leon Stone, on October 14, 1941. They had 72 wonderful years together before he went to be with the Lord at the age of 90 in 2014. They spent many years traveling the United States, camping from East coast to the West coast starting out in a tent and ending up with a more comfortable travel trailer. When Herman retired, they spent six months each year in Cherokee, North Carolina where they made many lifelong friends from all over the country and continued to travel. Her favorite things in this world were her family, dancing, singing, and music of any kind. She had more love in her heart than she could possibly give away. The Bible says to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” and she spent her life living out this biblical principle. In fact, she left us with “A Song in Our Hearts”.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Davis (Jimmy), Donna Nelson (Roger), and her “chosen” daughter, Liz Jones (Bob); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, with a chapel 2 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
