Ernest was in the Navy and the Air National Guard. He then joined the Scott Paper Company where he worked for 37 years. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling in his RV and motor home. He loved fishing, hunting, birdwatching, and being outdoors in general. Ernest enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He also liked to sit and watch old Western movies. Ernest was a long-time member of Central Church of Christ. More than anything, he loved spending time with his wife, Rose, and their beautiful family.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jackie Carlisle Moore; and brothers-in-law, Bud Moore, and Sidney Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 62 years, Rose Bowman Carlisle; children, Rick Carlisle (Ginger), Kimlyn Carlisle Spotswood (Jonathan), and Ernie Carlisle (Cheryl), sister, Patsy Brown; grandchildren, Adam Carlisle, Evin Carlisle, Christian Carlisle, Jonathan Spotswood, Benjamin Spotswood, Jake Spotswood, Bryon Allsup, and Shannon Allsup; great-grandchildren, Sadie Higgins, Barrett Carlisle, Kennedy Carlisle, Everett Carlisle, Eli Carlisle, Max Allsup, and Lukas Spotswood is on the way.
A visitation for Ernest will be held on Monday, January 17, at Radney Funeral Home 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606 at 12 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1PM in the chapel. Interment will be held immediately after funeral service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at 10000 Celeste Road, Saraland, Alabama 36571.
