Eva Deloris (Dee) Macklin Rhodes born in Pelahatchie, MS on July 25, 1955 to the late O.B. and Doretha Taylor Macklin. She was raised in New Orleans, LA where she met her husband Ollie Mack Rhodes and married on August 8, 1971 and later moved to Mobile, AL.
Eva accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Saint Rose Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA under the leadership of Reverend Noily Paul Sr. where she served in the Mass Choir. She became a member of Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA under the leadership of Reverend Noily Paul Jr. where she also served as a choir member. She later became a member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile, AL under the leadership of Bishop Carlos Brown where she served as an Evangelist.
Eva was educated at Alfred Lawless Jr/Sr High School. She worked for Mobile County Public School System as a cook for 15 years. She also worked as private sitter for 15 years. She loved baking, fishing and spending time with her family. Her favorite color was red.
Eva was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Pearl Rosebud Rhodes; father, O.B. Macklin; mother, Doretha Taylor Macklin; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Ollie Mack Rhodes; her three children Maloris (Stirling Richardson) Rhodes, Shelbin (Hanunah) Rhodes, Sr., and Tamara (Jermaine Sr.) Jenkins; grandchildren, Jaloris, Tavin, Teyia, Charlene, Shelbin Jr., Tracy, Destiny, Joshua, Kashun, Shelby, Jermaine Jr., Tylar, and fur grandchild Major; one great-grandchild, KenDarius; sisters, Celeste Jackson, Dorothy (Sylvester) Carr, Annie (Albert) Johnson, all of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Floree Dillion of Lawrence, Kansas; two uncles, Roy (Gladys) Macklin and L.C. (Pudding) Macklin, of Las Vegas, Nevada; six sisters-in-law and one devoted sister-in-law, Clara (Polland) Nichols; three brothers-in-law; four god-children, Lance Wright, Courtney Burnette, Tyrione Darby, and Marlin Williams ; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Pine Crest Funeral Home, located at 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL 36605, with a Homegoing Celebration immediately following in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
