Florence Caroline Newsome

Florence Caroline Gerken Newsome – a native of Jennings, MO and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a 30 year volunteer for Lutheran Braille Workers, a member of the Cosmopolitan Club, the Wisteria Study Club, the Forum Club, the Women’s Club, and the Arthritis Foundation (AVAC).

Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Verne Newsome, and daughter, Carol Ann Newsome. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Alison Tanner (Andrew); son, Robert Michael Newsome (Margaret); granddaughters, Ashley Tanner McKeithan (Lee), Allison Tanner Allen (Jack), Ann Marie Newsome, and Carol Delaune Newsome; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from Grace Lutheran Church on Monday, November 27, 2107, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Entombment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 1356 Government St., Mobile, AL 36604.
