L. Shuford Sr. in Mobile, Alabama. He went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2023.
Frankie was a 1981 graduate of Opp High School, and a member of the Opp Marching Band, where he
played the drums. He joined the US Army National Guard out of high school, and it was in Basic training
at the age of 18, that Frankie was hurt and became a quadriplegic. The doctors said he would not live
more than a dozen years, but God had bigger plans for Frankie. After spending almost a year in the
Memphis VA hospital, Frankie returned to Mobile and attended college at University of South Alabama,
graduating with a degree in Political Science, in 1986. He then attended Alabama School of Law,
graduating in 1990. He opened his law office here in Mobile in 1992, where he showed his clients God’s
love through the way he practiced.
Frankie met the love of his life, Barbara Grissett, at church in 1991, and the two married in September
1993. They had their son, John, in 2001.
Frankie had the most kind, warm and energetic spirit, and loved to brighten other’s lives with his special
ability to connect with them through compassion and caring. He used his testimony to help others know
that God has a plan for you regardless of your situation or fears. He had a generous heart and a wicked
sense of humor which made it easy for people to be drawn to him.
Frankie leaves to cherish his memories Barbara, his wife of almost 30 years, his son John, devoted
mother, Eileen “Mo” Rodgers, and loving step-father, George “Dubby” Rodgers of Mobile, AL; 7 sisters,
