Fred Nelson “Ted” Forwood – age 94, born in Atmore, AL on January 20, 1927, and a lifelong resident of Mobile passed away at his home on Monday, December 27, 2021. He was a 1945 graduate of Murphy High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, followed by service in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Forwood worked as a real estate developer, builder and in numerous other businesses in the Mobile area for many years. He was also an avid card player.
Mr. Forwood was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline Forwood; son, Brian Forwood; daughter, Brenda Forwood Vick; and brothers, Frank Forwood, George Forwood, and Walt “Harvey” Forwood. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Snellen Forwood; sons, David Forwood (Ylene) and Steven Forwood (Amy Morris); step-daughter, Christina Hoke; son-in-law, Stephen Vick; sister-in-law, Joyce Forwood; 10 grandchildren; Matthew Ferry; many other relatives and friends. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Mr. Forwood’s caregivers and the staff of Kindred Hospice.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the service hour.
