

Gary Thomas Cooper - age 65, a native and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died September 22, 2018. Mr. Cooper, a 1970 graduate of McGill Institute served in the U.S. Navy and was proud to serve in Operation Frequent Wind the evacuation of South Vietnam during the fall of Saigon in 1975. He earned his degree in Forestry at the University of California, Humboldt State. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Park Service for many years in Northern California. He liked spending summers in Alaska, exploring the last frontier. He returned to Mobile in 1987 to care for his aunt, Mrs. Annette Kelley, who suffered from Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Margaret C. “Peggy” Bridges; brother, John Robert (Judy) Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
