Gary Allen Shaw

On the evening of August 15, 2026, at the age of 72, our dear Gary was welcomed to Heaven by his Lord and Savior. We could just hear him say, “Well, done good and faithful servant!” Gary was born on September 16, 1953, to Herbert and Ina Shaw. He was the second oldest of four children.

Gary attended Forest Hill Elementary School and afterwards, Shaw High School. He played in the band as a drummer and graduated in 1971. He had several jobs in construction and worked at Mobile Pulley Works for many years, retiring in 2019. He was a staunch Alabama “Crimson Tide” fan and rarely missed a game.

He was a long-time member of Hill Spring Baptist Church (formerly Spring Hill Avenue Baptist Church) and served as a Deacon for several years. He also taught an Adult Sunday School class and sang bass in the choir for years. Later he became a part of the Praise Team as a drummer. On July 11, 2015, he married Terri Smith. They were married for eleven years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ina Campbell Shaw, his father, Herbert Charles Shaw, his younger brother, Colin Shaw, and older brother, Samuel Shaw.

He is survived by his wife, Terri, his son Jason (Thalia), his daughter Amanda Shaw (Jeremy), stepdaughter Amy Smock (Bobby), Rebecca Schmitt (David) and Jamie Price. His sister, Susan Pate (Philip) also survives him as well as ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM on Saturday August 22, 2026, at Hill Spring Baptist Church, 335 Eliza Jordan Road, Mobile, Alabama. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Pastor Tanner Rowell and Lee Havens will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Lee, James Baughn, Tony Poiroux, Bob Waldrop, Darren Bonin, and Jerry Dees.
