George "Scooter" Burns a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away Saturday January 15, 2022. He was born on Thursday, October 13, 1955 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Roy Walter Burns and Shirley McKnight Burns.
Scooter was a local sports talk radio celebrity with a fan base of his own. He was born with a handicap but that didn't stop his passion for sports. An avid reader with a phenomenal memory, he became a savant of sports trivia. He was an avid fan of Alabama football and Auburn too, as long as they weren't playing Alabama. He loved baseball and attended Little League, South Alabama Jags, and Mobile Bears games making the rounds through the stadium talking sports with everyone. He also claimed to be Tom Brady's #1 fan.
He was a proud graduate of Williamson High School in 1974. After graduation from Williamson he worked diligently for over 40 years retiring from MARC Enterprises.
He is survived by his siblings: Missy Gresham (Jim), Roy Burns (Rebecca), Dee Brandt (Dave), and Bill Burns (Debbie) and numerous nephews and nieces and countless friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 21, 2022, at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 906 Garrity Street, Mobile, Alabama 36605 with Father Joe Bolling officiating.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Catholic Cemetery, 1700 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Mobile, Alabama.
The Family is requesting masks be worn by anyone attending services.
