George Robert Byrd

George Robert Byrd was born August 27, 1947 in Mobile, AL. He passed away November 21, 2017. Robert was a vibrant personality that will be missed dearly by his friends in his mystic society. He was an avid golfer and grilled the best barbecue in Alabama. He loved Alabama football almost as much as he loved golfing with his friends. Robert worked for International Paper for 32 years and recently retired from Thompson Engineering. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Byrd, and his nephew, Wayne Clinton Davis. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sherry Phillips Byrd, his sister, Lynne Byrd Davis, his niece, Georgia Harris, his great nieces, Elizabeth Harris and Lucy Davis and his great-nephews, Lincoln Harris and Cash Davis. Pallbearers will be; David Burroughs, Tony Harris, Danny Harrison, Terry Kiser, Tom Sowell and Roby Steed. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Cobb, Bobby Smallwood, Tommy Repoll, Buddy Wilder, Ed Ferniary and Mike Chiodo. Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, followed by a chapel service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley.
