
George Madden Foster, Jr., age 85, died Saturday, October 8, 2011. He was a native of Mobile, AL, born December 12, 1925 to George M. Foster and Anna Louise Walker Foster, both deceased. Mr. Foster was employed by Alabama Dry Docks, Waterman Steamship Corp. and was a chief draftsman with Palmer and Baker Engineers for over 36 years. He retired from David Volkert and Associates in December 1990. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of Howard Lodge #69, Scottish Rite Bodies and ABBA Temple Shrine for over 50 years, where he served as chairman of the ABBA Shrine Hospital unit, ABBA Shrine Board and ABBA fire brigade, and was also a member of two mystic societies. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Alice Ruth Myers, who passed away on February 27, 2005, siblings, John Waters Foster and Evelyn Hudson. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Betty) Walker Foster, two sisters, Mel Goodhue and Anna Belle Foster, nieces Gayle (Tom) Pate, Judi (Jim) Gulledge, Robin (Ricky) English, Marilyn Goodhue, Ann (Paul) McCormick, nieces, nephews, cousins, especially great-nephew Bradley (Erin) English and great-nieces, Brittany English and Lyndsey Pate. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 10 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery.
