

George Dupre Labbé, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after complications from peripheral artery disease on Wednesday April 30, 2014 in Mobile, AL. He was born in 1931 in New Orleans, LA to Joseph and Gladys Labbé. George spent his childhood in New Orleans with his two sisters (Ruth and Gladys) and three brothers (Joseph, Raymond and Paul), where he also graduated from Jesuit High School. After serving as a Sergeant for the United States Marines during the Korean War, George moved home to New Orleans where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara M. Baber. During their 59 years of marriage, he had a successful career in both sales and retail management. In retirement, he enjoyed many years of traveling, fishing, gardening and golfing. He was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus parish. He is survived by his wife Barbara Labbé, his two daughters Elise Labbé-Coldsmith (Bruce) and Barbara Labbé-Gaddy (Dennis); his six grandchildren, Andre Betancourt (John), James Comiskey (Brittany), Rachel Williams (David), Leon Ruttley, Calley Coldsmith and Ross Coldsmith and four great grandchildren, Blaise, Knox, Orion and Ogden. Services will be held Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, at Pine Crest Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL. Visitation will open to the public at 1:30pm, followed by the funeral service and burial at 2:30pm.
