George William Lauber, Jr., of Mobile, entered into rest Sunday, January 17, 2016 at a local hospital. He was 90. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Moffett Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Dr. Steve Walter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Lauber was born in 1925 to the late George and Alma Roh Lauber in Mobile, AL. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in Kingsport, NY and served during World War II. He retired with the position of Wood Preparation Manager after 43 years with Scott Paper Company. Mr. Lauber was a member of Moffett Road Baptist Church for many years, while serving as a Deacon for some of those years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ann Thompson Lauber, and one sister, Doris Lauber Diamond.
He is survived by one daughter, Sheila (Jim) Hess, two sons, Glenn (Dawn) Lauber and David (Ann) Lauber, six grandchildren, Raven (Eric) Dumas, Lydell (Marla) Lauber, Whitney Lauber, Mary Ann (Jeff) Harrison, Courtney (Alan) Loving, and Dawn Hess, nine great-grandchildren, and other nieces and nephews.
