OBITUARY
Gretchen Joan Fundinger
August 14, 1962 – January 12, 2021
Gretchen Joan Fundinger, 58, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in Mobile, Alabama. Gretchen was trained as a medical assistant because she wanted to help people. She had a generous heart, and was a loyal friend. Gretchen loved writing and was a wonderful storyteller. She loved her family, friends – her beloved pets – and her Little Flower Church family. Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter A. Fundinger, Jr. and Mary W. Fundinger. She is survived by her sisters, Heidi Fundinger and Michele (William) Nolen-Schmidt; nephew, Walter (Alicia Callaway) Nolen-Schmidt; niece, Laura (Robert) Potts; one aunt, Nell Mason; as well as a host of cousins and cherished friends. Visitation for Gretchen will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at which time a Rosary will be said. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. with interment following in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.

To lose sweet Gretchen is such a sad thing for us all. I still remember the pretty young girl at St Mary's and I am so thankful that we later became friends again on FB. It hurts my heart so to know that we can no longer share our love of decorating for the holidays and all of the wonderful, funny things we would share. Heidi please know that I am here for you if you need me. She is now with all of our loved ones just waiting for us to join them! Dena
