Mr. Adams’ early career was spent working in the space program at Cape Canaveral, Florida. After returning to Mobile, he had a varied career – which included being a businessman, a catastrophe adjuster, and a building contractor. He loved his family, gardening, fly fishing, and Alabama football. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Ashland Place United Methodist Church.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his father, Curtis T. Adams; mother, Vurma Adams Frederick; step-father, Edward H. Frederick; two brothers, Samuel Adams and Jackie Adams; one sister, Peggy Adams Pittman; and his son, Lawrence Guy Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Fay Simms Adams; two daughters, Beth (Stan) Morrow and Jennifer D. Adams; two granddaughters, Abby Adams and Alex Morrow; siblings, Max (Elouise) Adams of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Johnnie Adams Mead of San Jose, California; as well as other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Springhill Memorial Hospital, SouthernCare Hospice, and Monica’s Sitter Service for their excellent care and comfort.
Mr. Adams’ family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Pine Crest Funeral Home, with a graveside service immediately following in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, of which Mr. Adams was a partner for many years.
