

Guy was born in Bayou La Batre, Alabama on July 24, 1957 and was a native of Dauphin Island, AL. He was the second child of Thomas and Eula Ree (Mallon) Gibbs of Dauphin Island. He attended Alba High School and was a member of the ROTC program under the command of Col. Keith. His early employment included Dauphin Island Water & Sewer Authority, contracted with Bell South during hurricane Frederick, Alabama Conservation Marine Source, Jeff Caldwell electrician, Capital Gun. Later, Fort Campbell 101st Airborne Division Hazmat – Mobilization – Demobilization Unit, the Coordinator of Family Readiness 4203rd US Army Hospital and the 807th MASH unit Family Support team 82 RSC, Crowder Gulf- Homeland Security.
He continued his education attaining a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business and Organizational Security Management- Magna Cum Laude and Emergency Management Institute - FEMA. He was a LTC (Lieutenant Colonel) in the Alabama State Defense force and a retired Constable for the State of Alabama, precinct 88 Dauphin Island.
He was a member of St. Edmund by the Sea Catholic Church, a Eucharistic minister, altar server, maintenance man and served the parish family in many ways many will never realize.
He enjoyed life to the fullest, filled with happiness and surprises. He was fun loving and never met a stranger. A wonderful husband and father. Was a dependable and trusted friend to many he knew and always loyal to his work.
Special Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful medical team of Doctors and nursing staff in ER and CCU at University of South Alabama Medical Center during his sudden illness.
Preceded in death by Father and Mother, Thomas and Eula Ree Gibbs.
Left to cherish Guy’s wonderful memories will be his beloved wife, Barbara Gibbs; two sons: Joseph Gibbs, John Gibbs, two brothers: Richard Gibbs, Davy Gibbs and wife Barbara; two brothers-in-law: James Lawson and wife Sheila, Michael Lawson and wife Susan; one sister-in-law, Mary Laws; two nephews: Zachary Lawson, James Laws, five nieces: Sunshine Laws, Kayla Lawson, Katlyn Gibbs, Madelyn Gibbs, Jacquelyn Gibbs; one uncle, Preston Mallon and wife Connie; two aunts: Shirley Kirkpatrick, Dottie Mallon; along with many extended family members and numerous wonderful friends.
Expressions of love can be given to the charity of choice or Mobile County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5:00 PM until time of service on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM all to take place at St. Edmund’s by the Sea Catholic Church, 202 Key Street, Dauphin Island, Alabama 36528 with Father Leo Guadalaquiver officiating.
Interment will immediately take place on the grounds of Dauphin Island Catholic Cemetery, Dauphin Island, Alabama.
