Harold graduated from Ellisville High School and went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1966. Throughout his professional career, he worked with Mississippi Power & Light in Vicksburg, MS, Scott Paper Company and later the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and integrity.
A faithful servant of his community and church, Harold was ordained as a deacon in 1969 at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS. He then served as deacon and elected as a lifetime Deacon of Spring Hill Baptist Church. He was also a proud member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and other professional organizations.
Harold was devoted to his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann Clark Kirkland of 61 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.
He is survived by his three daughters: Carrie Elizabeth Kirkland Montgomery (Michael), Melissa Jane Kirkland McElroy (Will), and Jennifer Stine Kirkland Woods (Kevin); and seven cherished grandchildren: Grant McElroy, Anna McElroy, Martin Montgomery, Ryan Montgomery, Laura Beth Montgomery, Wade Woods, and Brodie Woods. He is preceded in death by his brother, James Ethel Kirkland and survived by his brother, Robert Lamar Kirkland (Becky) and his sister, Debra Ann Kirkland Shelby (Paul). Many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harold will be remembered for his strong faith, steady guidance, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of kindness and service will live on in all who knew him.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 with visitation at 11am and service following at noon at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2 S. McGregor Ave, Mobile, AL 36608. Graveside will be an intimate family gathering.
Pallbearers are Ken Jordan, Ronnie Hinote, Leland Huey, Vick Davis, Bobby Stanford, Kenny Sellers. Honorary Pallbearers Southern Masters Bass Anglers.
