

She was born in Bogalusa, LA on April 21, 1917. Mobile became her home when her family moved there in 1919. After graduation from Murphy High School, she became a registered nurse and served several years in that capacity.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene H. Latham (1915-1962), father and mother Walter F. and Lillie H. Pennington; brothers W. Fred and wife Winnie G. Pennington and W. Clifford Pennington; brothers-in-law: Rev. Charlie Monk, Rev. Bland Dudley, John E. Humes and a nephew, J. Eric Humes.
Mrs. Latham was a loving mother to her children, who were her "pride and joy" and is survived by daughters Mary Louise Jones (John), Columbiana, AL and Cheryl Jean Harshbarger (Clark), South Vienna, Ohio; sons W. Louis Latham (Peggy), Pelham, AL and Paul L. Latham (Debbie) Mobile. She is survived by five grandsons: Troy Latham (Cindy), Bradley Latham (Amber), Andrew Latham (Jenna), Gene Latham (Tara) all of Mobile, Jeffrey Jones (Susan) Birmingham, AL; and five granddaughters: Christiana J. Baum (Coman), Birmingham, AL, Jennifer H. Robinson (Scott), Sarah H. Brown (Andrew), both of Springfield, OH, Amy Harshbarger, Mesa AZ, and Rachel Latham, Mobile; fourteen precious great-grand-children as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is also survived by three loving and caring sisters: Ilene P. Monk, Pensacola, FL, Marie P. Humes, Greenville, SC, Lillie Mae P. Dudley, Richmond, VA; and sister-in-law Virginia M. Pennington (Clifford's wife), Williamsburg, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, October 31, 2011 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
