Helen Marie Cook Ward

Helen Marie Ward – an 85 year-old native of Meridian, MS and resident of Mobile passed away at her home on Thursday, September 23, 2010. She was a small business owner and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary (1983-84). Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary “Marci” Bishop. She is survived by her husband, Daniel P. Ward, Jr.; children, Bobby J. Stage (Ana) and Linnie S. Nelson (Roger); sister, Genelle Pierce; step-son, Mark Ward (Sandy); eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to her caregivers, Sandy Ward, Dorothy Vieira, Nell Miller, and Carol Stevens, as well as to the staff of Wiregrass Hospice, especially Ethel, Sarah, Nancy, and Chaplain Candler Cain. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, September 27, 2010, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
