A cherished Mother, Grandmother and friend, Helen Hemmert Wilhelm exchanged this earthly life for eternal life on August 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born 94 years ago to John and Barbara Hemmert, Helen was the youngest and last surviving of eight children – Peter, Anna, Elizabeth, Katherine, Barbara, John and Nicholas. Leaving her farm home in Elberta, Alabama in 1943 for Mobile, she served during World War II as a teletype operator at Brookley Air Force Base until war’s end. Mercedes and I are so sorry for your loss. Your Mom Worshiped with us at St Paul's Lutheran Church for several years. She always had a warm infectious smile that you could never forget, and her wine cake was a favorite of everyone. She will be missed by so many. You are in our Prayers.

Although we only met Mrs. Wilhelm briefly, she made a wonderful impression on me and my wife. It was obvious that she was warm and kind. Her fine qualities are evident in each of her children. There is no doubt that she is now watching over each of you from heaven. We know how much each of you loved her and how much she will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her. So sorry for you loss.

Helen was a most beautiful person with an enormous heart! She opened her home to us even when it was full and shared her love through her baking. She made the best wine cakes ever! You will be missed. Thank you for sharing your love with us, Jo and Mick

Mrs. Wilhelm was so precious to me! There is not enough room to share all the memories! She was such a dear friend of my mom's and my dad's. She was a second mother to me! Our families shared meals, holidays, special events, laughter, sorrow, births, deaths....she will forever be in my heart. I can imagine that right now heaven is full of the aroma of coffee while she and my mom are sharing a pot and laughing and talking.

She’s my Aunt & I have great memories of her. She was helpful, kind, liked everyone, made you feel welcome all the time. Didn’t see her or her wonderful children a lot because I lived in Pennsylvania most of our childhood. She cook the best meals. We’d go to gulf shores together see places where family lived. Always felt welcome & never wanted to leave. The whole family is the greatest. She did a great job raising her children. I’m proud of her what she has done for everyone. I’ll miss her dearly. Wish I could of made it one more time to see her. I have candy canes made of beads from her & angel pins she made. My condolences & prayers to all the family & friends. She’ll always be in my heart 💜. I love you ❤️ Aunt Helen. Words are never enough on things like this. God bless you 🙏😇❤️🌹🥰💜💕💐🌻

Dear Mrs. Wilhelm,

Even though I never had the honor of meeting you, I know what success you had raising some mighty fine children and I believe God has a special place in heaven for you.
