Mr. Henry F. Sedgeway, age 93, resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022. He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Foster, wife, Elsie, sisters, Betty, Nettielee, Ann and brothers, Alvin, Roy and Luther, son, Ford Sedgeway, daughter, Diane Hancock and great-grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Booker.
Henry was a hard worker, starting at the early age of 13 working at a dairy farm and at age 15 began his long career as a Merchant Marine. He worked for a short period of time with the railroad and finally retired after many years with Scott Paper Company. He loved his church family and community. He could be found on any given day out helping others, he was a true servant. Family was everything to him, including the fur baby Reilly.
Mr. Sedgeway is survived by his children, Linda Colglazier (Clark), Cathy Perry (Larry) and Frank Edwards (Mary). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Mark, Dwight, Dwayne, Steve, Daryl, Brad, Jennifer, Kerri, Deanna, great-grandchildren; Cameron, Ashton, Stephanie, Scott, Olivia, Emma, Nathan, Megan, Sky, Vincenzo, Erik, Morgan, McKenzie, great-great grandchildren; Capri, Camri, Cazli, Jayden, Caleb, Katherine, two more on the way, brother, Joseph (Flop) Foster and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank his memory care workers for the care and love shown, especially Teresa, Angela and Sandra. They would also like to thank SAADS Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion and most of all the Christian Love that was shown every day.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in Henry’s name be made to Snow Road Missionary Baptist Church, 809 Snow Road N, Mobile, AL 36608.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the Oakleigh chapel of the funeral home immediately following visitation. Interment will be in Wolfridge Cemetery.
