

Henry David "Hank" Sierke - A resident of Mobile, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Winning national awards for his sculptures, he was a noted artist and floral designer who owned and operated Hedgerow with his partner, Steven Herring. Hank was a master florist who was trained in New York City. He was a partner there in a firm that serviced elite clients, among them, the River Cafe. Hank was the florist at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear for 25 years. His work has been featured in Town & Country and Veranda newspapers. His "Christmas at the Grand" was renowned throughout the country, and was ranked among the top ten by USA Today. Hank also did floral work for Schumacher and Waverly wall covering photos. He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Sierke. Survivors include his mother, Mary V. Sierke; sister, Mary "Trinket" Kersten and her husband, Mike; brothers, John Theodore Sierke, W. H. "Buzz" Sierke, Jr. and his wife, Haiying, and Paul Charles Sierke and his wife, Linda; and his nephews, Jesse Sierke, Zachary Sierke, Nicholas Sierke, Eric Kersten, and Richard Kersten and his wife, Rebekah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mobile SPCA, 620 Zeigler Circle W., Mobile, AL 36608, or to the animal charity of your choice.
