Herman G. “Corkey” Peabody – age 79, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, in a local hospital. Corkey was a native of Mobile and owned and operated Peabody Auto Parts on Old Shell Road. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army and a retired civil servant. Mr. Peabody was preceded in death by his wife, June Waltman Peabody; son, Herman Earl Peabody; daughter, Carolyn Marie Peabody; parents, Herman C. Peabody and Starly L. Kyler; sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Anna Cook. He is survived by three daughters, Karen O’Shea, Darlene Stebbins, and Brenda Watts; two sons, Richard Peabody and Brian Peabody; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, other relatives, and many friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 23, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
