Hugh Logan Hill, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2015. He was a native of DeFuniak Springs, FL and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Menetre Hill, two daughters Jan Hill Coon (Tom) and Jennifer Hill Fillingim (Warren-deceased); three grandchildren, Carron Fillingim McEntire (Matthew), Kelly Fillingim, Bradley Logan Coon (Jae) and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Kay Coon, as well as many special nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Hugh graduated from the University of Florida with high honors and a degree in Forestry and was a dedicated employee who loved his work with International Paper Company for 35 years. He was a faithful member of Forest Hill United Methodist and is fondly remembered for the many young lives he touched as a 7th grade Sunday School teacher. He was a Master Mason with Springhill Lodge #896 and received his 50 year pin and apron in 2005. Hugh never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to tell others of his love for Jesus. He leaves us with so many wonderful memories and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. The family would like to especially thank the dedicated team at Springhill Hospice for their loving care and support during his illness as well as the always helpful and considerate pharmacy staff of CVS, Old Shell Road. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Forest Hill United Methodist Church with services at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will follow in Poplarville, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the charity of choice in memory of Hugh.
