Irma Jean Hill Pope, 88, a native of Grove Hill, AL, and a resident of Mobile for many years passed away Saturday, August 18,2012 at a local nursing facility. She was the last of 14 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hill of Grove Hill. She attended Cottage Hill Baptist Church prior to becoming disabled.
Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband, Spurgeon Pope; her parents; five brothers, Robert, Travis, George, John and
Charles; eight sisters; Celia Martin, Wilma Hill, Sadie Hicks, Hilda Crane, Mary Siracuse, Norma Smith, Katie Schmitz and
Evelyn Hardy.She leaves a host of neices and nephews; two special niece-in-laws, who were her caretakers in her last years; Lynda Smith Overstreet and Evelyn Schmitz. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Antioch Baptist Church, Grove Hill with visitation services starting at 1 PM. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery
