

Jacqueline Robertson Barker, 88, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. She passed away two weeks prior to what would have been her 89th birthday
Born on December 18, 1936 in Mobile, Alabama, Jackie was a beloved mom, grandmom, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Jackie lived a life rooted in service, family, and community. She graduated from Alba High School, where she was proud to serve as an Azalea Trail Maid and head majorette for the Alba High Band. In 1958, she earned her nursing degree from The University Hospital School of Nursing—now the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing—beginning a lifelong dedication to caring for others. She would later earn a Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of South Alabama.
Jackie went on to pursue a career in nursing working primarily in the Operating room at Mobile Infirmary. After receiving her Master’s degree she would transition to teaching Surgical nursing at Mobile Infirmary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Barker, and her parents, Jack and Johnnie Lou Robertson.
She is survived by her son, Paul Armbrester (Karen); her grandchildren, Chris Armbrester, Katie Asmussen (Michael), and Caroline Bell (Matt); her brothers, John Edward Robertson (Claudria) and Jesse Robertson (Elisabeth); and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 8th from 10:00-11:00a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00a.m at Bayou la Batre First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Oddfellow Cemetery. Pallbearers carrying her to her place of rest are Christopher Armbrester, Bryant Robertson, George Davis, Bryan Swearingen, Chase Swearingen and Chris Bryant.
Jackie’s family extends their deepest appreciation to her caregivers—Ebony Williams, Dana Langford, and Aubrey Langford—for their compassion, kindness, and exceptional care.
