Jackie was a loving wife, devoted mother, great sister, aunt and friend, as well as a dedicated and caring teacher for 32 years with Mobile County Public Schools. She was an active member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church and a former member of Theodore Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved to travel, read a good book, and sing in the Dauphin Way Baptist Church choir.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Velna Bolton; in-laws, Otis and Irene Brunson; brother, Larry Bolton; and son, Hendon Brunson.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Otis Brunson; son, Darin Brunson; daughter-in-law, Harriett Brunson; grandchildren, Bo Brunson, Perry Brunson Allen (Joby), and Olivia Brunson; sister, Joan Givens (Johnny); brother-in-law, Melvin Brunson (Dixie); sister-in-law, Caroline Brunson Pugh; and special cousin, Daryl Haskew (Brenda).
Pallbearers are Bob Clardy, Terry Joe Debrow, Johnny Givens, Daryl Haskew, Melvin Brunson, and Bo Brunson. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Bolton, John Gray, Bill Whitfield, and Charlie Etchieson.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile, with a chapel service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the music department at the Theodore Baptist Church, Theodore, Alabama.
