James Herbert Arendall, 84 years of age, a native of Mobile, Alabama and graduate of Murphy High School, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at a local hospice facility. Mr. Arendall was a Christian man who loved God, Family and America. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon returning home after 13 months, he began employment at Scott Paper Company where he was employed for 32 years. He and his deceased wife, Geneva, were long time members of Crichton Church of God. He served as a youth counselor for over 10 years and also used his own vacation time to be a youth camp leader.
James was predeceased by his wife Geneva Elmore Arendall. He is survived by his wife Gloria Jordan Arendall, sons Rex Arendall (Kathy), Scott Jordan (Denise), John Jordan and Patrick Jordan. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren – Luke Arendall, Gabriella Jordan, Allen Chandler (Whitney), Sadie Chandler, Ethan Jordan, Harrison Jordan,Victoria Arendall and Summer Arendall and 1 great grandchild, Wyatt Chandler and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James was a devoted family man and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a genuine and honest Christian man who loved camping, fishing, hunting and watching his son and grandson play baseball and football. He loved spending time fishing on Fowl River and on one occasion swimming in Fowl River when the boat flipped over. James and Gloria never went out in that boat again. They upgraded their boat and James proudly caught a 30 pound redfish.
To know him was to love this gentle man, and he gave his love freely and generously. He loved old western movies and bluegrass gospel music.
