
Mr. Cameron served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1953, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Occupation Medal in Germany, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of East Pointe Baptist Church in Spanish Fort, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and mentor and friend to many. He was active in the community, a kind and thoughtful neighbor and always willing to help others. His love for Christ came first in his life. His testimony for Christ was lived daily through his love for his family and friends. Mr. Cameron was also a retired Alabama State Trooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. Cameron and Luce Mae Barton Cameron; and his wife, Delores S. Cameron.
Survivors include three sons, William Edward Knight, John T. "Bud" (Barbara) Knight and Vernon Steve Knight; three grandchildren, Delores (Charles) Knight, Jim (Amber) Knight and Thomas C. (Stacie) Knight; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews; six great-nephews and great-nieces; eighteen great, great-nephews and great, great-nieces; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 12 Noon. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
