James Burton Denson Sr.

James B. Denson, Sr. – A lifelong resident of Mobile, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in a local health care facility. For over 30 years, Mr. Denson coached football at Municipal Park. He retired from Scott Paper Company. Mr. Denson was an active member of several mystic societies and the Senior Bowl Committee, and was an avid University of Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and James Denson. Survivors include three children, James B. (Joann) Denson, Jr., Jeffrey S. (Debra) Denson and Julia Denson Andrews; one step-son, Brian Armstrong; five grandchildren, James B. “Trey” Denson, III, Jeffrey P. Denson, Chandler S. Denson, Kara Elizabeth Covington, and Juliane “Kate” Dodd; his best friends, Rusty Norton and Ray Smith; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com.
