James “Jim” Edward Franks, 67, born November 27, 1954 in Great Falls, Montana, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Mobile, Alabama. Jimmy was brought up the in the Baptist faith in Saraland. He attended Satsuma High School. Since 1985, he owned and operated Area Supply Co. He started J&K Tractors in 2005 in Satsuma, selling Mahindra Tractors. Jimmy was a proud and loving father. He loved to fish, especially with his son, whom he molded into the man that he is today. Jimmy loved people but family always came first. He was always there to lend a helping hand to the community when asked. He was also a proud contributor of St. Jude’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Clay Franks and Bobbie June Mosley Franks; daughter, Christine Turner; and brother, Dennis Fred Franks.
Survivors include his wife Kerry Gilchress Carraway; a son, Jim Franks, Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Townsend; sister, Deborah Jane Tate (Robert); brother, Marcus Franks (Theresa); three grandchildren, Lacie, Cody (Aggie), and Christian; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Maddie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36606.
