Rev. James Ulmer Gandy

Rev. James Ulmer Gandy, of Mobile, entered into rest Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at his home. He was 92. Funeral services will be Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Oakleigh Chapel, Mobile. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. Dr. Bryce Evans and Dr. Steve Walters will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rev. Gandy was born in Prattville, AL to the late Julius Francis and Frankie Johnson Gandy. He was a graduate of Wheaton College and attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored First Baptist Church of Bayou La Batre, First Baptist Church of Robertsdale, and served in Evangelism for 30 years and was known for his special sermons. Rev. Gandy was a member of Moffett Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two wives, Esther Kelley Gandy and Faye Faulk Gandy, two brothers, Julius F. Gandy and Terrell J. Gandy, and a sister, Louise Gandy Richards.

He is survived by his son, Paul W. (Beverly) Gandy, daughter, Mary E. Gandy (Mike) Roper, five granddaughters, Ivy Gandy Singley, Jessica Gandy Turner, Faith Roper Helton, Amy Roper McKissick, and Bethany Roper Long, one grandson, Paul Roper, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy S. Gandy and Margaret K. Sims, nieces, and nephews.
