James “Larry” Hancock – a 76 year-old native of Cullman, Alabama and resident of Mobile passed away at his home on Monday, February 22, 2021. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from DuPont as an area supervisor after 30 years of service. Mr. Hancock was a member of Azalea City Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He spent many years mentoring through the coaching of youth sports. He also enjoyed home improvement projects, woodworking and loved animals.
Mr. Hancock was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Olvin Hancock and Vivian Ivola Calvert Hancock; sister, Joan Wisner; and first wife, Ava Diane Hancock. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betsy Hancock; children, Dwayne Hancock (Natalie), Dwight Hancock (Sue), Steven Hancock (Bobbie Jo), Daryl Hancock, and Beth Tillman; grandchildren, Stephanie Hancock, Scott Hancock, Olivia Hancock, Emma Hancock, Christian Tillman, Faith Evans, and Alexander Tillman; siblings, Karen Kalec (Dennis), Lorraine Enke (Harold), Elaine Bullock, Keith Hancock (Traci), and Ray Hancock; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from Azalea City Church of Christ on Friday, February 26, 2021, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, February 25, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery West on Snow Road.
