
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joy Hanks, his parents Roderick Duncan Hanks and Margaret Virginia Stewart Hanks and nephew Joshua James Bingham.
He is survived by his daughter Jamie Hanks (David) Allen, Visalia, California, and two sons, David (Katrina) Hanks and Michael Hanks, and three grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin, and Clarissa Allen also of Visalia, Cal. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret Hanks (Harold) Jones; three nieces, Nancy Jones (Bobby) Bingham, Stephanie Jones Upshaw, and Angela Jones (Todd) Cedotal; 12 great nieces and nephews, Brittany Bingham (Kevin) Willie, Victoria Bingham (Toby) Williams, Paul Bingham, Justin Jordan, Brandon Jordan, Lauren Jordan, Hailey Cedotal, Katelyn Upshaw, Noah Upshaw, Taylor Terry, Caroline Williams and Paisley Williams; along with other relatives and numerous friends.
James David Hanks, who is fondly remembered as Uncle Jimmy was an artist in his own right and an avid Alabama fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a giving, lovable person who did not meet a stranger. He will be truly missed.
A visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL., on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 11:00AM -12:30PM. The interment will follow at 1:30PM at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 34904 State Highway 225, Spanish Fort, AL. He will be buried with Full Military Honors.
