

James Michael Holcombe received the gift of life on July 14, 1959, and he received the gift of eternal life on May 29, 2014. Mike was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and lived most of his 54 years in Mobile. He is survived by his devoted parents, Jimmy and Clara Holcombe, sister Lisa (Jay) Meeks, nephew Brayden, niece Kensley, girlfriend Cheryl Neely and many other beloved relatives and friends. Mike was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He owned and operated Mike’s Lawn Service and proudly served his country in the United States Army and Alabama National Guard for 31 years. He deployed with the 1/10th AVN REGT in support of Operation Desert Sheild/Storm from January 2nd 1991 through May 9th 1991. His last deployment to Iraq was with the 1165th Military Police Company from June 19th 2003 through July 4th 2004. SSG Holcombe was awarded the Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (3). Outside of work, Mike served as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, held several offices and was currently Exalted Ruler of the Mobile B.P.O.E , Elks Lodge #108, and was a member of the Conde Cavaliers. One of his favorite ways to spend his time was hunting deer with his dad and nephew. Mike will be greatly missed! Visitation will be held Monday, June 2, 2014, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 2nd from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
