James Russell Norris entered his reward in Christ on April 9, 2021. He was born August 30, 1950 in Mobile, Alabama. Russell was preceded in his journey to Heaven by his parents, Loel and Claris Norris. He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Debbie Norris; his brother, Rodney (Valkyrie) Norris; his children: Valarie (Lee) Rumbley, Melissa Norris, Ryan (Kourtney) Norris, Chelsea (Grant) Etheredge; his grandchildren: Olivia Rumbley, Owen Rumbley, Millie Rumbley, Liam Norris, Mason Cosgrove, Kennedy Norris, Caroline Etheredge, Karen Norris, Henry Etheredge, Charlotte Etheredge, and Russell Norris.
During his life on earth, he held his family and many friends dear. He witnessed to many souls during his lifetime and loved to share the gospel of Jesus. Russell had a strong work ethic. He was an avid outdoorsman, archer, teacher, mentor, and writer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved watching NASCAR races and Alabama Football. Russell and his wife were long-time members of Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God in Semmes, Alabama, and he wrote a collection of works that testify of his faith in Jesus and demonstrate his abundant love for his Savior. He will be sorely missed by his family; however, they find great hope and peace in knowing they will be reunited with him in Heaven.
Pallbearers include James Jeter, Coby Wilkins, Robert Wilkins, Joe O’Shea, Scott Sheffied, and Devin O’Shea.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 14th at Radney Funeral home at 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606. Visitation will begin at 11:00 with the funeral at 12:00. Graveside services will follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Eight Mile, Alabama.
